Privacy notice
This notice explains how personal data is handled when you visit acdsqc.com or contact Acid Sequence. In short: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare describes as cookie-free, to count visits and measure how quickly pages load. The site's own code sets no cookies and includes no advertising or social media trackers. The personal data involved is the technical information our hosting provider needs to deliver and measure pages, and anything you choose to send us by email.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Gary Reid, trading as Acid Sequence. Acid Sequence is operated by an individual. It is not a limited or registered company.
- Website: acdsqc.com
- Email: hello@acdsqc.com
We have not appointed a data protection officer. Please send any question about this notice or your data to the contact above.
What we collect, why, and our lawful basis
When you visit the website
The site is a set of static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver a page, the hosting provider's servers necessarily receive technical information about your request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser's user-agent string. The hosting provider uses this to deliver the site and to protect it against abuse and attacks.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a website that works and is secure (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We do not use this information to identify, track or profile visitors, and we do not combine it with other data.
Website analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, provided by Cloudflare as part of our hosting, to understand which pages are read and how well the site performs. When a page loads, a small script from Cloudflare (served from static.cloudflareinsights.com) runs in your browser and sends Cloudflare a report containing:
- the page you viewed and, if you followed a link, the website that referred you;
- your browser, operating system and type of device (desktop, mobile or tablet);
- the country you are visiting from;
- timing measurements of how quickly the page loaded and responded, including Core Web Vitals.
As with any web request, sending this report also gives Cloudflare your IP address and browser user-agent string. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies, localStorage or any other client-side state to collect usage metrics, and does not fingerprint individuals using their IP address, user-agent string or any other data. We see only aggregated reports, such as page view counts, top pages, referring sites and performance figures, and we do not use them to identify individual visitors.
Purpose and lawful basis: our legitimate interests in knowing which pages are useful and keeping the site fast (Article 6(1)(f)). If you prefer not to be counted, you can block scripts from static.cloudflareinsights.com with a content blocker or browser setting. The site works fully without it.
When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, the content of your message, and any attachments. Email is handled by our email provider, Fastmail. We use this information only to read and reply to your message, and to act on it, for example by correcting a fact on the site.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in responding to the people who contact us and keeping the site accurate (Article 6(1)(f)). Please don't send special category data (such as health information) by email; we don't need it.
What we don't do
- The site's own code sets no cookies and includes no advertising or social media tracking, and Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies. Our hosting provider may use its own security measures to protect the site; if that ever involves cookies, we will describe them here.
- We have no accounts, comments, newsletters or web forms.
- We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't use it for marketing.
- We don't use analytics to profile or track individual visitors.
- We don't make decisions about anyone by automated means, including profiling.
Who processes your data for us
We use two service providers, which process personal data on our behalf under their terms of service and data processing terms:
- Cloudflare Pages hosts and delivers the website, and provides Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- Fastmail hosts our email.
We would only otherwise disclose personal data where the law requires us to, or where it is needed to establish or defend legal claims.
International transfers
Our providers may process personal data outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards set out in that provider's terms of service and data processing terms. Contact us if you would like more information about these safeguards.
How long we keep data
- Website request data is held by our hosting provider in line with its own retention practices. We do not keep separate copies of it.
- Analytics data is held by Cloudflare. Cloudflare states that it keeps the full analytics data for 7 days, then keeps a reduced sample for longer-term reporting, which we can view for up to six months.
- Emails are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your message and any follow-up. We review correspondence periodically and delete messages that are no longer required. We may keep a message longer if it is needed to establish or defend a legal claim.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
- ask us to correct inaccurate data (rectification);
- ask us to delete your data (erasure);
- ask us to limit how we use your data (restriction);
- object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests (objection).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. There is normally no charge, and we will respond within one month. We may need to ask you to confirm your identity first.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to manufacturers' websites. When you follow a link you leave this site, and that website's own privacy notice applies. We do not currently use affiliate links. If we add them, the retailer may be able to record that you arrived from Acid Sequence, and we will update this notice before any such links go live.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal data, for example by adding cookies, other analytics tools or affiliate links, we will update this notice first and change the date at the top.
